The 44301 was the last 44 MLB to be in service with the U.S. Coast Guard. This film was taken on the 7th May 2009 at Station Chatham, which was the day before she was retired. It also shows the two 42ft Special Purpose Near Shore Lifeboats built especially to replace her.

44347 Tows stranded boater off the rocks
Motor Life Boat 44347 departs Station Golden Gate to rescue a stranded boater that is close to going on the rocks. Not very dramatic, but a typical day of the Coast Guard Coxswain and Boat Crew doing their daily business.  Note the use of actual charts "back in the day" before GPS and electronic charts.  Duxbury reef was in this area and depths had to be checked.

17th July 2011

This was filmed at one of our stops during our amazing road trip along the Pacific Northwest and California coastline visiting all the ex 44ft Motor Lifeboats along that coast and many of the U.S. Coast Guard Stations. This was a short but very pleasant stop at Gig Harbor, Washington to view the 44364 and we were even lucky enough to have a trip around the harbour on her.
